Rita Ross, Co-founder and Chair of RSRT UK has worked for Barclays bank for thirty years. Her current position is Diversity & Inclusion Manager, UK Retail Banking which means she is responsible for formulating and implementing the D and I strategy for UK retail and business bank. She is based at Barclays Head Office at Canary Wharf.
When Rita's daughter, Frankie was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome three years ago, she immediately began looking for ways to utilise her skills and connections to generate large scale fundraising efforts. It was Rita's particular interest in funding treatment-focused research programs which then led her to connect with other like-minded parents to form the Rett Syndrome Research Trust UK, enabling other fundraising families like hers to have the maximum impact possible on the research which will ultimately translate into treatment for Rett Syndrome.
'Francesca was diagnosed in the summer of 2008 when she was aged three. No words could ever describe how we felt. The one thing that keeps me going is that one day we will find a cure for this devastating disorder and Frankie can live her life as a happy child once again.'
