Blankets and rugby for Reverse Rett

15/04/2025

Everyone who has a child with Rett or MECP2 Duplication syndrome knows how difficult those early days are after the diagnosis.

Our lovely friends at Tonbridge Community Crafters continue to make Reverse Rett blankets and cuddly toys for us to send out to newly diagnosed families which we know are warmly appreciated. We’ve also started to send out some other helpful things in the care packages with the blankets.

The dedicated TCC make the blankets on a voluntary basis. The wool and the other items in the care package have been funded through a special donation made possible by Leigh Leopards’ player and Reverse Rett Ambassador, Gareth O’Brien, who was offered £500 for his boots after kicking the winning drop goal in Golden point extra time against Wigan which secured a 1-0 in the first Super League match of the season.

If you know someone who is newly diagnosed, please make sure they have registered on rettregistry.uk so that we can make sure they get their care package asap. Special thanks to Gareth, Steve Openshaw who bought the boots and the wonderful, Becky Jones, friend of Elsie who has Rett syndrome for making the blanket project possible.
