Raising money for the first time can seem daunting but it doesn’t have to be. Choose a challenge that will capture people’s imagination, then tell your story. People give to people and are moved by the personal reasons behind your challenge. So make it personal!
Holding an event can also be a fantastic way to raise money whilst having a great time. Quiz nights, dinner parties, cheese and wine evenings or if you have a strong network, a ball or formal dinner.
Families of people with Rett Syndrome, their friends and networks are the reason Rett research is making such great progress. Curing a rare disease is a real challenge. Most people have never heard of Rett Syndrome, so it’s up to those who have to shout it from the rooftops. Think about who you know and who could help. Enquire if your work place has a matched funding scheme or choose a ‘Charity of the Year.’ Ask your friends about the support their employers give to charities and put Reverse Rett into their minds.
Schools usually select a charity to support so make contact with your local school. Perhaps you know a celebrity who could champion our cause and raise the profile of Rett Syndrome? We need you to tell people about how we’re #MakingChangeHappen for people with Rett.
