We are Reverse Rett, a UK patient advocacy and research organisation focused on delivering treatments and a cure for Rett Syndrome to everyone affected. Established in 2010, with a strong focus on community fundraising, our organisation has helped drive Rett Syndrome research out of the lab and into clinical trials of treatments aimed at addressing the disorder’s underlying cause and fundamentally changing the lives of those affected.

As Senior Development Officer, you’ll be an integral part of the team and secure funding from various external sources, including Charitable Trusts/Foundations and major donors. Partnering with significant donors and funders, you will work with ambitious colleagues to create compelling proposals to develop funding bids and proposals and to cultivate long-term donor relationships.

Responsible to: Operations Manager
Location: Flexible and remote working is offered to all staff. We have an office in Manchester, Lancs, for those who wish to come into the office.
Hours: 18 hours per week (Part-time), core hours of 10 am–4 pm
Salary: £36,000 FTE per annum (Pro Rata £18,000)

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Work with the CEO and Operations Manager to deliver the Business Development aspects of the Reverse Rett annual plan.
  • Carry out structured and analytical interviews with the CEO, Operations Manager, and wider team to identify potential areas of focus for grant applications.
  • With reference to existing Reverse Rett relationships and previous grant awards, develop a program of potential applications, identifying trusts, foundations, and major donors to incorporate into your work plan.
  • Write high-quality grant applications, producing compelling content and where appropriate working in partnership with Design/Marketing to create a polished visual application.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of Reverse Rett’s work and help to develop both existing and new corporate relationships.

About You

If you’re interested in joining us as a Senior Development Officer, you’ll need:

  • A degree or relevant fundraising qualifications and considerable experience working in a fundraising/development role.
  • A strong track record in raising five and six-figure levels of philanthropic funding from Trusts and Foundations, major donors, statutory sources, and/or other external funders.
  • Experience in preparing successful and compelling fundraising applications, proposals, and donor reports.
  • Experience in managing relationships with funders and developing effective stewardship and cultivation programmes.
