Dornoch mother’s 50 day 5k challenge
A Sutherland mother is taking part in a challenge to raise money for Reverse Rett – a charity dedicated to finding a cure for Rett Syndrome.
Stephanie Wood, whose daughter Emilia (3), has the syndrome, has signed up for the 5×50 challenge which will see her running, walking or cycling 5k every day for 50 days, starting from Sunday, March 22.
Mrs Wood, who lives with husband Alvin and Emilia in Dornoch, said she did not expect it to be easy but was motivated by her daughter’s example.
“Finding the physical and mental energy to do this will not be easy for me, and although I enjoy running, most of the time, it can cause me back pain.
“It will mean very early mornings and being outside in all weathers but none of this compares to the difficulties Emilia goes through every day.”
“I’m determined to see this through and raise as much as I can in the process for Reverse Rett.”
