Speechless for Rett Syndrome

19/05/2022

Could you go without talking, texting or typing for 4 hours? How about 8 hours? Maybe even a whole day? This October, for Rett Syndrome Awareness Month, we’re challenging people to go Speechless for Rett Syndrome and get a tiny glimpse into how it might feel to be without a voice.

Earlier this year, the Year 5 students at Surbiton Girls’ Prep School, were the first to take on the Speechless challenge, spending four hours of their school day with only a simple communication grid to help them speak. It was harder than they thought but really rewarding – we’ll be sharing some of their reflections with you over the next few weeks.

Since then several other schools and individuals have taken on the Speechless challenge as well.

Anyone can join the Speechless campaign and it’s a simple, cost-free, effective way to raise both awareness and funds.
